North London Collegiate School is the UK’s oldest academic girls’ school. youHQ was adopted in 2023 to compliment their pastoral support and give the staff, students and parents meaningful data to support overall development.

The Challenge: To establish a cohesive pastoral and safeguarding system for all students, aged 4 to 18, whilst also providing bespoke PSHE and wellbeing support for junior pupils (Years 2 to 6).

The Solution: To fit NLCS' needs, our team suggested the implementation of youHQ as part of the timetabled tutor and PSHE curriculum. By introducing the wellbeing check in and educational resources, alongside the face-to-face pastoral team, NLCS was able to provide the girls with opportunities to learn the skills and strategies to support their wellbeing. The values-based goalsetting features encourage the older students to reflect on their values and aspirations.

When using youHQ one of the things that has made a big difference to our pastoral care has been the visual data we have been able to share with parents.

On one occasion when sharing an individual pupils wellbeing scores with parents, they were able to see very quickly how their daughter had been logging her mood. We were able to provide context to her scores by providing a class average/ range and the visual data had a far stronger impact on parents than any previous information we had discussed with them throughout the year.

For this child, youHQ made an enormous difference to the next steps we were able to take and helped her parents to have a better understanding of her as an individual.
